Ballymaloe House

Ballymaloe House could be seen as the spiritual home for Cork’s food culture, with the Allen family providing several generations of great cooks, teachers, writers and innovators. A classic Irish Country house is at the centre of a restaurant, cookery school, organic farm, regular festivals and so much more.

Myrtle and Ivan Allen opened this Historic Country House, their home, to the public as a restaurant in 1964 and later as a guesthouse. Ballymaloe House continues to be run by the Allen family and now celebrates over 50 years of international recognition as the home of Irish Country cuisine and hospitality.

Ballymaloe House is located in East Cork and set deep within lush countryside accessible by tree lined avenues. Conde Nast Traveler Magazine included Ballymaloe House on their 2015 Gold List – the only Irish venue on this prestigious list of the World’s top 100 hotels.

Ballymaloe House, the walled garden and surrounding parklands and woodlands are unique, and along with its many functional outbuildings Ballymaloe House is a hugely diverse location. The many functional outbuildings (Ballymaloe Grainstore, Carrigaun room and Big Shed) and variety of garden spaces are ideal for everything from short romantic breaks away and family holidays to weddings, corporate events, team building activities and seminars.
