In a picturesque fishing harbour (a half-hour south of the city) which has become synonymous with gourmet eating, Bastion is part of the new wave in this long-established foodie heaven. At first glance, an elegant, relaxed wine-bar-bistro, its adventurous, ever-changing menus have won this innovative restaurant great praise, making it one of just 16 restaurants in Ireland to be awarded Michelin Bib Gourmand status.
Their aim at Bastion is constant evolution. They have recently taken pause to look back on their last two and a half years and noticed since they opened they have been tweaking the way they prepare, cook, plate, offer & serve and as a result tweaking the experience their guests have with them. The kitchen & front of house are always striving to offer their guests an interesting dining experience.
Bastion is currently running a seven course tasting menu which runs along side their concise al a carte menu. Their tasting menu is there to offer guests an opportunity to explore food they would not ordinarily try. They offer an optional wine pairing to accompany their tasting again to let guests taste wines they might not normally venture towards.
They have over a hundred wines on the list and it is always growing, a selection of these which would normally be prohibitively too expensive to offer by the bottle are now available by the glass thanks to their coravin system they look to add wines that will compliment their ever changing menu.
