Cafe Depeche was created by Humphrey Porter in February, 2004. Having previously worked as Loss Prevention Manager for a large music chain for 10 years and simultaneously also providing bar services, for a large brewery for nearly 15 years, Humphrey wanted to recreate the ambience of a bar, and combine his passion for music and great coffee.
This resulted in the creation of Cafe Depeche. The first cafe being Cafe Depeche, Gate Cinema Complex, North Main Street, Cork and followed by Cafe Depeche, Lancaster Quay, Cork, which opened in November, 2008.
Customer focus is at the centre of this vision and the recreation of the banter and personal attention like that of any traditional Irish Pub. To achieve this our espresso machine is always situated on our front bar counter so that we don't turn our backs on our customers and therefore our customers always feel that they are the priority in Cafe Depeche.
The success of our initial Cafe Bar has been based on training each member of staff to a high Barista level and this is reflected in the quality & presentation of each individual coffee & drink served to each individual customer.
Cafe Depeche has a commitment to its local community and takes pride in its sponsorship UCC Drama Society and in the past St. Finbarrs Cycling Club.
We anticipate that Cafe Depeche from its humble beginnings in the North Main Street will become the premier Espresso Bar chain in Ireland.
